Unicaja Mijas lost to Melilla Ciudad del Deporte La Salle (54–74) in their final pre-season fixture. Javi Pérez de los Reyes’s side managed to bounce back from a difficult start and closed the gap to seven points in the final quarter, but the visitors once again imposed their physicality in the closing stages.
Unicaja Alhaurín de la Torre lost to Obradoiro U22 on the opening day of the 2026–27 Liga U season (72–80). Mikel Ereño’s side dominated for much of the match, but a poor start to the final quarter ultimately proved their undoing.
This afternoon, Unicaja Baloncesto made its now-traditional visit to the Shrine of Our Lady of Victory, the patron saint of the city of Málaga, to present a floral offering in anticipation of the new season. The men’s and women’s first teams were present at the event and expressed their best wishes for the new season that is now beginning.
Unicaja coach Txus Vidorreta discussed the team’s condition at a press conference ahead of the Liga Endesa opener this Sunday, September 27, against one of the competition’s strongest teams: Real Madrid (7:00 p.m., broadcasted live by DAZN and Unicaja Baloncesto Radio from El Quinto Quarto). The coach is confident the team will perform better than they did in the preseason matchup.
Unicaja Mijas will round off their pre-season this Saturday at 12:00 against Melilla Ciudad del Deporte La Salle at the José María Martín Urbano Sports Hall in Los Guindos. This will be the first and only chance to see Javi Pérez de los Reyes’s team in Málaga during the pre-season, thirteen days after their previous clash with the Melilla side at the III Javier Imbroda Memorial.
